campfire The 2017 Rio Grande District Camporee will include an evening campfire program that will begin a with Luau meal including Kaula, smoking pork shoulder. (Availability of this campfire is weather dependent and will be limited to the one available fire pit.) Each Troop should be prepared to offer a pot luck side dish, enough to share with all the Troops. We also will need a scout 14 yrs. or older from each Troop to help with cooking and serving. Troops are also encouraged to participate is a Scoutmaster dessert cookoff Rules for the SM Cookoff: dessert must be made at camp Scoutmasters must supply all the needed ingredients and materials for their dish Scoutmasters are responsible for cups/bowls for serving and utensils for eating. Food must be made to serve about 20 people. The SPL from each Troop will serve as the judges panel

After dinner & dessert there will be a Luau themed Campfire Program. ·

Attending troops are encouraged to provide at least one skit.

During the campfire, the Order of the Arrow will conduct their annual tap-out. As always, family and friends of OA candidates are welcome at the campfire!

As in years past, the Camporee officially closes after the campfire; however, units may camp Saturday night. If you stay over, Troop 714 has invited everyone to a Scouts Own Service Sunday morning at 8:00am.

Uniform of the Day Saturday will be a Class B uniform. Leave No Trace: Pack your trash out and dispose of it at home. Bring all the water you will need for your troop. There is NO POTABLE

WATER at our location. There will be space in each troop's campsite only for the troop trailer and one tow vehicle. All other vehicles will be parked at a separate parking area. The ONLY fire will be in the established fire ring. Food will need to be stored in the troop trailer or in the one vehicle allowed on each

site. Waste water from dishwashing will need to be strained and the strained food placed into a trash bag. The trash bag will be stored inside of your troop trailer or the tow vehicle in the campsite. No generators running after hours. Signs will be in place to help those arriving Friday night and Saturday morning find their way. Don't worry, you will see the signs. Close the cattle gate behind you after you drive through. Be careful on tent placement. Cottonwoods may fall over, if it’s windy.
